I've created this page in memory of a loved one
Panagiotis “Peter” Menidis was born to Anastasia & Giorgios Menidis in the Laconian village of Kastoreion, on the slopes of Mt Taygetos in the Peloponese, Greece.
Peter, was part of the great post war migration arriving by ship to Melbourne in 1965.
Here he met & married the love of his life Sofia with whom he had 3 children, Jorge, Natasha & Kon.
His love for friends and family was unlimited. He particularly embraced his daughters in law Meri and Candice and all of his extended family both here in Australia and back in Greece.
He enjoyed a successful career as an in-demand carpenter, a job that he innately identified with & that he loved deeply building homes for people all over Victoria.
A humble, gentle, hardworking man he was the life of every gathering, of every party. King of the kids, he shined brightest when spending time with his 4 grandkids; Panos, Sophia, Micaela & Pete.
The last few years were heavy under the weight of Parkinsons but he tackled them with the verve and energy that defined the way he lived.
He passed peacefully surrounded by his children, brother Leo and his beloved wife Sofia on Tuesday 14 April 2026.
